Racosperma gordonii

Racosperma gordonii, also known as Gymnema sylvestre, is a plant species native to the tropical forests of central and western India.

It has been used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine for its medicinal properties, particularly in the treatment of diabetes and obesity, due to its ability to regulate blood sugar levels and suppress the production of insulin.

The plant contains compounds such as gymnemic acid, which is believed to have anti-diabetic and anti-obesity effects, as well as other health benefits including improved digestion, reduced cholesterol levels, and enhanced immune function.

Gymnema sylvestre is typically used in herbal preparations such as capsules, tablets, and teas, although its effectiveness and long-term safety have not been extensively scientifically proven.
